Our Museum is open to the public May through October and December. Admission to the Webb Deane Stevens Museum includes our exhibition galleries in the Holcombe Education Center, access to our 8-acre campus and gardens, and a guided tour of our three restored historic houses.

The Webb Deane Stevens Museum is located at 211 Main Street in Wethersfield, Connecticut. 

Free street parking is available, as well as in the public lot at the Keeney Memorial Cultural Center at 200 Main Street.   

Free parking is also available behind the Webb Barn on the Museum campus. 

The Buttolph-Williams House (a property of Connecticut Landmarks) is open for tours Thursday-Saturday at 10:00 am.  Buttolph-Williams House tours leave from the Webb Deane Stevens Museum. Please arrive 10 minutes early to purchase tickets. Tours are available May-October. Admission is $10 per person.

 

FAQs

Photographs may be taken for personal use only. Because of the age of the items in our collection, we ask that you do not use a flash. Photography may be restricted for certain exhibitions and programs. Please share your photos on social media!

The Webb Deane Stevens Museum Shop, Webb Barn, Holcombe Education Center, and exhibition galleries are ADA compliant. The Silas Deane, and Isaac Stevens Houses are not handicap accessible due to the age of the structures. The first floor of the Joseph Webb House is wheelchair accessible. 

Food and drink are not allowed in the Museum galleries or in the Webb, Deane, and Stevens Houses. Food and drink may be consumed at the bistro tables in our front courtyard and back patio or on the picnic tables on the grounds of the Museum campus. 

  • The Museum strictly follows both state and local COVID-19 protocol to ensure guest safety.
  • If you do not feel well, please stay at home for the safety of our staff and guests.
  • House tours are limited to 15 individuals per tour.
  • Guests are welcome to wear face masks in accordance with their comfort level. Face masks are available upon request at the Guest Services Desk.
  • Please try to maintain 6 feet between yourself, staff, and guests not in your group.
  • Our cleaning protocols comply with all current Connecticut guidelines.

Soda, iced tea, and bottled water, as well as light snack items, are available for purchase in the Museum Shop. There are many locally owned restaurants offering both casual and fine dining within a short walking distance of the Museum.

If you would like to experience all the Museum has to offer: historic three-house tour, gardens, exhibitions, and store, please plan for 2.5 hours. Our guided historic house tours are 75 minutes and exhibitions are self-guided. If time is short, please consider becoming a member and return as often as you like! 

We’ve found that children love learning about history (especially the privies!). The Museum regularly hosts family-friendly events and programs appealing to children ages 8 and older. Check out our events calendar to learn more or look at our Education section to find information on school or other youth programs and activities. 

 

Service animals are allowed in the Holcombe Education Center and museum shop. Service animals and leashed pets are allowed on Museum grounds, which are also enjoyed by the local community. Please do not leave your pets unaccompanied on Museum grounds or locked in your cars.
